Do I have to use the shop my insurance tells me to?
No, you don't. Your insurer might steer you toward a "preferred" shop on their DRP list. DRP is short for Direct Repair Program, basically an arrangement between the insurance company and certain shops. It can be convenient. It is not a requirement.
