Auto Body & Collision Repair in Fall River, MA

Auto Body & Collision Repair in Fall River, MA

Looking to get your car fixed in Fall River? Bring it to Carl's Collision at 1591 Bay Street. We've been repairing cars in this city since 1994, and this shop is the one that started it all. Free estimates, we deal with your insurance for you, and you can get a rough price off your phone before you ever drive over.

Why does it matter that this is the original Carl's?

Because thirty years in one city teaches you things. Carl's Collision started here in Fall River in 1994, and it's the same family still running it. We added shops in New Bedford and Newport later on, but Bay Street is home base. When a car gets towed off Route 24 after a bad merge, or somebody clips a guardrail crossing the Braga Bridge in February ice, odds are it's landed in our lot at some point over the last three decades.

That history isn't a wall of old photos. It's the reason we know which insurance adjusters actually return a call and which estimates are going to need a fight.

What can you actually fix?

Pretty much anything that gets bent or scraped in a collision. We're an I-CAR Gold Class shop, which is the top training rating in the trade. Our techs are ASE-certified. And we hold more than 20 manufacturer certifications, including Tesla and Mercedes-Benz, so the cars a lot of area shops won't touch, we will.

Newer vehicles also need something called ADAS calibration. ADAS is the bundle of cameras and sensors tucked behind your windshield and bumpers that runs lane-keep, automatic braking, blind-spot warnings, and parking sensors. Crunch the front of a 2023 anything, and those go out of alignment. We recalibrate them so the car drives the way the factory set it up.

Can you match the paint?

Yes, and this is where a lot of shops fall down. We refinish in CMC infrared spray booths built in Italy, and we mix on PPG's LINQ system. Here's what that does for your car. A handheld DigiMatch scanner reads the actual color off your panel, sun-faded and all, and pulls the exact formula instead of a tech holding a paint chip up to the light and guessing. MoonWalk mixes that formula by weight, automatically, so the batch comes out identical every time. A Mix'n'Shake unit keeps the toners agitated so nothing settles out and shifts the color on you.

Plain version: the paint we spray on your door is the paint already on your fender. No off-shade panel that screams "this car got wrecked" three years later when the afternoon sun hits it. We've matched enough silver Camrys and weird factory blues to know it's the part people notice most.

Do I have to use the shop my insurance tells me to?

No, you don't. Your insurer might steer you toward a "preferred" shop on their DRP list. DRP is short for Direct Repair Program, basically an arrangement between the insurance company and certain shops. It can be convenient. It is not a requirement. In Massachusetts and Rhode Island, you pick where the work gets done.

We handle the insurance side either way. We bill them directly, manage the claim, and deal with the supplement if one comes up. A supplement is the extra damage nobody can see until the car's apart. Bumper comes off, turns out the bracket behind it is cracked too. We document it, send it to the adjuster, and get it covered, so the difference doesn't land on you.

What about towing, a rental, the rest of the hassle?

We line up the tow if your car won't drive. We keep rental cars on site through a third-party partner, so you're not stuck at the Bay Street shop trying to figure out a ride home to Swansea. And while the work's going on, you talk to us, not a 1-800 number in another state.

How do I get an estimate?

Two ways. Drive over for a free in-person estimate during the week, or use our free photo-estimate tool and we'll size up the damage from your pictures. Either way, the real work starts with blueprinting. That's a full teardown and inspection before anyone orders a part or sprays a drop of paint, so the repair plan is right the first time instead of getting rewritten halfway through. Want to see how the whole thing goes, start to finish? We walk through our collision repair process step by step on the blog.

What towns do you serve from the Fall River shop?

Fall River first, obviously. Then the towns right next door: Somerset, Swansea, and Westport. We pull cars from Dartmouth and the Route 6 stretch, from Freetown and Assonet up Route 24, and from Berkley, Dighton, Rehoboth, and Seekonk out toward the Providence line. Plenty of Rhode Island drivers cross over too, mostly from Tiverton just across the Sakonnet. If the Braga Bridge or I-195 is part of your commute, you're close enough to bring the car here.

Building it new all over again. That's been the line since 1994, and it still holds.

Yes. In-person estimates and the online photo estimate both cost nothing, with no obligation to have the work done here.

Stop in during the week, or use the free photo-estimate tool and we'll quote it from your photos.

Do you handle Teslas?

Yes. We're Tesla-certified, along with Mercedes-Benz and more than 20 other manufacturers, and we recalibrate the ADAS sensors those cars rely on.

Do you do small dents and scratches, or only major collision work?

How long will my repair take?

Depends on the damage and how fast the parts come in. We give you a real timeline after blueprinting, once we've seen everything that needs fixing, not a guess over the phone.

Fall River, Somerset, Swansea, Westport, and the surrounding SouthCoast towns along I-195.
